The second step is to clean the face with a wet tissue or sponge, so that there are no marks on the face. After that, you can select a colour for the base, which will cover the whole face, in order to give the exact look you want. To cover the entire face, use sponge and not a brush. It is a quick way and gives a neat and smooth look. Always apply a thin layer of paint; do not use thick paints; otherwise, cracks might begin to appear on it. And, let the first paint dry before using the other one.

After that, you can use brushes for fine lines or any other idea that you want to display on the face of the person. If you are not good in making freehand drawings, you can use stencil of different designs and shapes. You can have these stencils in different sizes for large and small faces. Nowadays, there are face painting stencils, available in the market. You can also use glitter and tattoos to enhance your face painting.

Basic colours used for painting are yellow, red, blue, black, and white. You must learn slowly and use these colours to face paint. If you think that you need other colours for face painting, buy various colours that will help you make different designs. Using right kind of brushes is also very important.

The most important part and the part requiring the testing of most of your skills is the painting of the eyes. This last part makes you ask the person to look up continuously when you are painting the lower surface of eyes. Then, ask the person to close his/her eyes, when you are painting the upper portion of eyes. Make it sure that you do not get the paint in the eyes of the person; else, it will lead to intense itching.

Last but not least, always keep a mirror by your side, so that the model can check it whenever he or she wants to have a look at his/her face painting. Also, keep wet tissues or wipes to clean your hands and face after face painting, because face painting is a messy job.
